Hide and Seek Play-Doh

What you need:

This is one of my absolute favorite games to do that can target SO many goals and can be used with many different ages kiddos. You will need Play-doh, small animal figurines (I use different Toob animals such as farm, safari and Arctic animals linked here) and my animal mats.

I start by telling the child to close their eyes. Then, I choose one animal and hide it in the play-doh. Then, when they open their eyes I elicit motor target such as "open" or "who is it?". Then, the child opens the play-doh to uncover the animal. During this time you model ways to desrcibe the animal such as "oh I see a long trunk!". Then, once they child finds the animal I ask "who did you find?" together we match the animal to the animal on the mat and say "on mat". Then we repeat again and again!

Motor Phoneme Targets

Depending on your student and your will pick your targets accordinging. These are just some examples I use but the possibility are endless.

Jaw control- "on mat"

Labial control- "open" "do more"

Lingual Control- "I see" "look"

Co-contraction (labial rounding and retraction)- "who is it?"

Movement across planes- "I found it" "put on mat"
